The Dog Park Heroes

Howdy! Thanks for your curiosity about the Dog Parks Heroes. If you don't find the information you're seeking, feel free to send us an email.

The Dog Park Heroes is a social group and charitable organization founded in 2019 to improve the lives of those who frequent dog parks, as well as grow an army of volunteers to help maintain public dog parks. We gather for social events and adventures with our pups, such as holiday and birthday parties, beach days, nature hikes and so on. We also come together to offer aid to parks in need. We make repairs, collect litter, advocate on behalf of parks and work together to raise money for improvements and major repairs. The organization has over 30 members and is growing all the time. We also have a newsletter that offers more information.

The Park for Humans & Dogs

The Park for Humans & Dogs is our current project. It's located behind the apartment complex at 2411 Washington Ave, 77007. This park is a product of a joint venture between the Houston Public Works department, the Old 6th Ward TIRZ and the developer of the 2411 building. It is a public park that features an on-leash park primarily for humans, a gravel park for potty time and a large off-leash park. It's truly a hidden gem in the city of Houston.

However, it does need some help.

Current State

The Park for Humans and Dogs is starting to show its age. Primary among the required repairs are the hinges for the steel gates and the long wooden fence adjacent to neighboring Glenwood Cemetery. This image is one small section of the mostly-dilapidated wooden fence.

The park is also desperate for sprinkler repair, holes filled, grass reseeded and a landscaping update.

We are currently running a fundraiser to repair this fence. If you would like to donate or find out more information, please click the button below.
